MRI Spectroscopy (MRS) is an analytic application of MRI which:

Analyzes for the presence of specific chemicals, for example N-acetylaspartate (NAA). NAA is a brain metabolite
localized almost exclusively to neurons and neuronal processes in the human adult brain

Measures changes in the signal intensity of NAA, which correlates with brain damage
•
Can quantify neuronal-axonal injury and loss

Cognitive Engineering uses MRS as one component of evaulation of
patients for the presence of cognitive impairment and neurodgenerative disorders. The scans most easily can be performed at
our facilities, but in some cases we can work with your local hospital, that possesses a high resolution (3T) MRI unit, and
has the appropriate software.
